The Speidel House Bed & Breakfast was built in 1927 yet it remained unfinished for many years during the Depression.  Charles Speidel bought the house in 1937.  After the war in 1947, he had the guest quarters built for clients of his architectural firm.  He remained in the house along with his two sons and daughter until 1957.

Carl, his oldest son was killed in World War II while serving our country flying a B25 Mitchell Bomber over Italy.  Charles' youngest son, Leonard, passed away a few years back but we were privileged to meet his wife not long ago.  We also recently had a visit from Barbara, Charles Speidel's grand daughter.  She shared family stories of growing up in this house.  Barbara also graciously gave us pictures and memorabilia from her past which are proudly displayed throughout the house.

Sit back & relax

On the first floor of the front house, guests are encouraged to enjoy the formal dining room, formal parlor, sun porch, and original kitchen which was reconstructed to 1928 standards.  These areas as well as the entire house are furnished with period antiques and portraits.  We designed our Bed & Breakfast to maintain an old type feeling hoping you'll enjoy "A TIME TO REMEMBER."

The inside of our house is only the beginning.  We encourage our guests to use the main deck for an afternoon break and to enjoy an incredible sunset each evening over the bay.  The wildlife and boats on the waterway provide good entertainment throughout the day.  Private off-street parking is reserved for each guest and our house sits adjacent to the bay, occupying the entire block so it is always quiet.  Traveling by boat to our house is no problem; since we provide free transient boat slips with water and electricity for our guests.

Fresh air, wildlife, & priceless sunsets
